FM Logistic is implementing a new automated parcel measurement solution called ClickSize to improve pallet stacking at its Mszczonów distribution centre in Poland.
ClickSize uses a camera and image analysis to determine the dimensions and volume of any box. The information feeds into the warehouse management system (WMS), allowing for faster and more precise pallet stacking.
“We have used ClickSize for more than three months. Although this took some testing and adaptation, we are very pleased with the results. The quality of the data entered into the WMS has improved. We are working on an interface to transfer the information automatically. We are implementing ClickSize in the warehouse where the variety of packages is greatest. The system has brought measurable benefits. We see the greatest potential for use for our retail and e-commerce customers,” says Alexandre Damie, head of innovations at FM Logistic Central Europe.
ClickSize was designed by ClickLog, a startup developing software to optimise cargo space planning. The company, which has offices in Kazakhstan, Poland and Estonia, started to work with FM Logistic as part of the latter’s “FM Open Lab” programme. This initiative targets logistics startups that want to develop and proof test their ideas in real-life conditions.
