Ikea and FM Logistic have celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Ikea distribution centre in Jarosty, Poland. Operated by FM Logistic since its opening, the 157,000 m2 facility – about the size of 22 football fields – services Ikea’s branches in 12 countries, from Finland to Croatia. With a volume capacity of 200,000 cubic metres, it can store up to 300,000 pallets. More than 700 FM Logistic employees work at the Ikea facility, processing both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) orders.
The warehouse is largely heated by renewable energy sources, namely geothermal and solar. A photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 770 kWP is due to enter operation at the distribution centre this year.
